Stories
There's an interesting detail about the park: the site was originally a reclaimed sea area, but later Shenzhen decided to build a talent park here to show respect for talent. It's said that every tree in the "Talent Grove" corresponds to an outstanding person who came to Shenzhen to start a business, implying "It takes ten years to grow a tree, but a hundred years to cultivate a person." There's also a little story: the Star Bridge is engraved with the names of many talented people, one of whom is Ren Zhengfei. But Ren Zhengfei is very low-key and has never publicly promoted it, yet Shenzhen still erected a sculpture for him, reflecting the city's recognition of doers. This detail makes many visitors feel that Shenzhen's inclusiveness is not just a slogan but is reflected in every detail.
History
Shenzhen Talent Park is an important symbol of Shenzhen's talent policy. In 2016, Shenzhen proposed the strategy of "strengthening the city with talent" and decided to build a park themed around talent. The park officially opened on November 1, 2017, which is "Shenzhen Talent Day," a legal holiday for talent in the city. The park took two years to build, funded by the Shenzhen municipal government, aiming to create a public space that combines leisure, education, and commemoration. Since then, the park has become an important base for promoting talent in Shenzhen. Every year on Talent Day, events are held here, witnessing Shenzhen's continuous attention and investment in talent.
Travel Tips
It's recommended to spend about 1.5 hours here, but if you enjoy taking photos, you can stay longer. The best time to visit is from 5 to 7 in the evening, when you can catch the sunset and then enjoy the night lights — the park's lighting design is really impressive. The park is free and doesn't require a reservation, but weekends and holidays can be crowded, so it's better to go on a weekday. For transportation, take Metro Line 2 to Houhai Station, Exit G, or Line 9 to Keyuan Station, then walk about 10 minutes. There are plenty of benches and vending machines throughout the park, but not many food options, so it's a good idea to bring your own water and snacks. In summer, it's hot, so remember to protect yourself from the sun and mosquitoes. For photo spots, I recommend the center of the Star Bridge, the island in the middle of the lake, and the lawn near the Shenzhen Bay side — you can get a perfect shot of people with the city skyline.
